California Shooter’s Wife Found Dead Under Floor In House, Authorities Say

The gunman killed four people on Tuesday

Four people were shot dead and 10 injured after gunman Kevin Neal opened fire at multiple locations in Northern California. And now, authorities say they have found the body of the gunman’s wife, who had been shot, killed and concealed under a floor in their family home.

Neal’s fatal shooting of his wife may have been the start of his deadly rampage, Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston alleges.

“We believe that’s probably what started this whole event,” Sheriff Johnston said, CNN reports.

On Tuesday, Neal opened fire at seven locations in remote Tehama County, including a primary school. Neal was then shot and killed by police.

Before the attack, the gunman was on bail after he was charged with stabbing a neighbour. His sister told media he had also struggled with mental health issues for decades.

According to Sheriff  Johnston, the shooter attempted to enter Rancho Tehama Elementary School during the deadly rampage. One student was injured at the school, while another child who was driving with a woman was shot.

“It was very clear at the onset that we had an individual that was randomly picking targets,” Sheriff Johnston said on Tuesday, ABC reports.

“We know of no real connection to any of the victims. Most of the victims in this case appear to be random selections.”

Local Brian Flint told media that his neigbour—believed to be the shooter–was in possession of a gun.

“The crazy thing is that the neighbour has been shooting a lot of bullets lately, hundreds of rounds, large magazines,” Mr Flint said.

“We made it aware that this guy is crazy and he’s been threatening us.”
