Ryan Reynolds is no stranger to trolling his wife, Blake Lively—in fact, it’s what the Hollywood couple has arguably become most known for since they wed in 2012. That means, every special occasion (from birthdays to holidays) is a chance for the pair to take an often sweet, yet hilarious, dig at the other.
In keeping with tradition, on May 9, 2021, the 44-year-old actor took to Instagram to share an adorable Mother’s Day tribute to his wife and their three daughters, James, Inez, and Betty.
“It can’t be said enough… you’re the heart and soul of every moment this family shares,” the Deadpool actor began. “I’m grateful for the light and for the kindness you smuggle into each and every second of our lives. I see you in the eyes of our children… Every laugh. Every blink and every thoughtful moment of vulnerability. The tender grit it takes to be a mother in 2021 is an act of pure strength and heroism.
Although it started out as a loving tribute, Reynolds also featured a very NSFW meet-cute about the couple’s early relationship, and as always, the actor didn’t fail to make fans laugh.
“Never could I have predicted anonymous airport bathroom sex would lead to this,” he joked. “Or how you’d hire Dog The Bounty Hunter to find me. Either way, I’m lucky to reflect a little of the sunlight you shine on all of us. Happy Mother’s Day, my love.”
The hilarious caption was accompanied by a sweet selfie.
The couple, while committed to trolling each other, also haven’t gone easy on their three young daughters. In August 2020, both Lively and Reynolds confirmed their kids would not be safe from their parents’ famous antics, sharing a selfie with their eyes opened wide. “We won’t embarrass them at all in middle school…” the Gossip Girl alum wrote.
Just last month the actor once again took aim at his eighteen-month-old daughter, Betty, sharing a movie poster from Lively’s horror movie The Shallows. “My one-year-old daughter is obsessed with Baby Shark. All day. Every day. There’s only one way to fix this,” he wrote.
Lively, of course, responded to her husband on her Instagram Story, joking: “Well at least they’ll have ample content for therapy.”
