Congratulations are in order for Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who are expecting their first child together, 10 months after they were wed.
The Royal family announced the happy news on their Instagram, sharing a sweet photo of the newlyweds during their wedding ceremony last year.
“Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news.”
For those who many not know, Princess Beatrice is already a step-mother to Edoardo’s son, Christopher. In a written essay for The Evening Standard, she opened up about how she’s taking to the role prior to her pregnancy.
“This year, I had the great honour to become a stepmother, and have had the most remarkable time going back over some of my most favourite stories at bedtime,” she wrote.
“I have dyslexia and as such reading has never been my strongest talent, however, having a little more time to take a moment to really get into stories has been a gift I am happy to have shared with lockdown life.”
Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie, only just welcomed her first child, a son named August Philip Hawke Brooksbank, with her husband, Jack Brooksbank back in February, 2021.
“We wanted to introduce you to August Philip Hawke Brooksbank…” the couple wrote on their Instragram. “Our hearts are full of love for this little human, words can’t express. We are excited to be able to share these photos with you.
As per People, Beatrice and Edoardo’s bundle of joy—which will sit 11th in line for the throne—will become the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild, following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, who is due to arrive this year.
Congratulations!
