From Emma Mackey and Margot Robbie to Zooey Deschanel and Katy Perry, the internet’s fascination with celebrity doppelgangers is never ending. Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones hasn’t been immune to the trend, with fans hilariously comparing her to Stranger Things star, Joseph Quinn.
It turns out they’re not the only ones who see the resemblance, with Daisy’s close friend and former co-star Paul Mescal revealing he’s been trying to convince Joseph of the resemblance while filming Gladiator II together.
Sitting down with marie claire Australian ahead of the film’s premiere, we asked Paul if he’d seen the comparisons between Joseph and Daisy online.
“I know,” he laughs, “We talked about this actually in an interview the other day and he wasn’t convinced. I was like, I’m glad that the internet seconds my thoughts that they look alike.”
Naturally, we had to ask if given the resemblance, Paul could convince Daisy to join a potential Gladiator III, if there ever should be a third instalment.
“We’d be very lucky to have Daisy in any film,” he says.
During her press tour for recent film, Twisters, Daisy revealed to Happy, Sad, Confused With Josh Horowitz that she’s regularly compared to Joe Quinn.
“I get Anne Hathaway a lot,” she said before adding: “And, Joe Quinn.”
Both host Josh and her Twisters co-star, Glen Powell, who was on stage with her, shared their surprise.
“I haven’t been mistaken for Joe Quinn,” she clarified, “But, people have told me I look like a female Joe Quinn. I see it.”
Online, fans have joked drawn parallels between not only the celebrity pair but Paul’s tie to them both.
“Mescal had in his contract that at least one actor must look like Daisy Edgar-Jones,” one twitter user wrote.
“Daisy Edgar Jones and Joseph Quinn are from the same clone tank,” another penned.
A third writing: “I need Daisy Edgar-Jones and Joseph Quinnto play siblings.”
Here’s hoping they’ll take our Gladiator III suggestions on board.
