After a mammoth 100 days in the newborn intensive care unit, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra are over the moon that their daughter is home.
Expressing his joy that his first child, named Malti Marie, is settling into her new life at home, Nick shared that his daughter is “the best” while on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
“It’s just been a magical season in our life,” he told Clarkson, adding, “Also pretty wild, but it’s a blessing to have her home. It’s been wonderful”.
Pulling up a beautiful photo of Malti that Nick and Priyanka had previously shared, it left Nick joking about the emoji they chose to cover her face and protect her privacy.
“There she is… she’s got a little heart face,” he said, smiling.
Earlier in May, the couple brought their baby home from the NICU just in time for Mother’s Day. Sharing our first look at their bundle of joy, the pair can be seen cradling the newborn with a caption that read, “On this Mother’s Day, we can’t help but reflect on these last few months and the rollercoaster we’ve been on, which we now know, so many people have experienced.”
“After 100 plus days in the NICU, our little girl is finally home,” she wrote.
“Every family’s journey is unique and requires a certain level of faith, and while ours was a challenging few months, what becomes abundantly clear, in retrospect, is how precious and perfect every moment is. We are overjoyed that our little girl is finally home.”
Then, Priyanka went on to thank doctors and specialists who “were there selflessly every step of the way,” and called her newborn daughter “truly a badass”.
Commenting on the heartfelt post, Nick wrote a sweet message to his wife where he praises her for her strength as a new mother.
“Babe, you inspire me and every way, and you are taking to this new role with such ease and steadiness,” he wrote. “I am so grateful to be on this journey with you. You are already an incredible mother. Happy Mother’s Day. I love you.”
Back in January, the couple shared that they were set to welcome a new addition to their family, with the help of a surrogate. In a cover story with Vanity Fair, Priyanka opened up about how she and Nick were more than ready to start their family.
“They’re a big part of our desire for the future,” she said about having children. “By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens.”
She went on to add that both she and Nick were “okay with” slowing everything down after their welcomed their baby into the world.
One thing’s for sure, we couldn’t be happier for the happy couple and their growing family.
