Another Met Gala, another batch of celebrities doing the most on the red carpet.
While some A-listers push the envelope with elaborate gowns or multiple outfit changes, others choose to make a statement with less fabric—literally. The annual event is no stranger to celebs showing some skin, with naked dresses, sheer pieces and see-through accents ever-popular on the Met steps. The 2024 Ball was no different, with a host of stars turning to near-nude outfits, lingerie-inspired looks or even body-cast gowns on the carpet.
From Jennifer Lopez’s classic mermaid dress to Doja Cat’s ode to a wet t-shirt contest; scroll on for the sheer looks to know from the 2024 Met Gala.
Jennifer Lopez
One of the first to arrive on the carpet, Jennifer Lopez made a statement in a custom Schiaparelli naked dress. The look featured a sheer base with a pattern of intricate, carefully-placed crystals.
Emily Ratajkowski
In a look that recalled her recent Oscars Afterparty dress, model and author Emily Ratajkowski freed the nipple in an archival Atelier Versace creation.
Doja Cat
After departing The Mark Hotel in nothing but a towel, Doja Cat changed into a wet, oversized T-shirt dress. Her makeup, which was by Pat McGrath, matched the occasion, featuring silver streaks down her cheeks which were reminiscent of running mascara.
Tyla
While not quite a naked dress, Tyla made a statement for her Met Gala debut. The emerging South African pop star opted for a bespoke full body-cast dress by Balmain.
Dua Lipa
Dua Lipa nailed boudoir dressing in a custom Marc Jacobs look. Paired with boa feather boa, the dress featured corsetry, lace and sheer detailing.
Rita Ora
Rita Ora’s Marni look featured sheer side panels, which showed off the star’s legs, side and behind.
