In this weeks dose of royal cuteness, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released a video of Archie for his first birthday. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave Save the Children UK a video to post of Meghan reading a children’s book to her now one-year-old son. The organisation posted it on its Instagram.
“Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex reads ‘Duck! Rabbit!’ for Archie’s birthday,” it captioned the video. “‘Duck! Rabbit!’ with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex (and Harry, The Duke of Sussex behind the camera), read to their son Archie for his 1st birthday. Happy Birthday, Archie! Thank you #DuchessMeghan for helping us to raise urgent funds for our coronavirus appeal by reading ‘Duck! Rabbit’ by @akrfoundation, illustrated by @tlichtenheld (published by @chroniclekidsbooks). As the world grapples with the coronavirus pandemic, children’s lives are being turned upside down. By donating to Save with Stories, you can support the most vulnerable families in the UK and around the world by helping to provide early learning packs, supermarket vouchers, essential household items and virus protection.” The organisation then detailed how to donate to it.
The last time we got a glimpse of Archie was when the couple released their year in review video at the end of 2019. He’s certainly grown since then.
The couple, who are now based in LA, has been giving updates on Archie. Back in March, the Duchess of Sussex told Endeavour Fund Awards attendee Claire Spencer that “he is 10 months now and is into everything.”
Meghan revealed a day later during her event at Robert Clack Upper School that Archie has “started trying to walk.” She also touched on his impact on her: “Having Archie changed my life,” she said.
A friend told People at the beginning of April that Archie is a “cute” and content baby. “Like everyone, they [Meghan, Harry, and Archie] are adjusting to [social distancing], being cautious and safe,” the source said. Archie is “teething and is a happy baby. I’m sure he is happy to be in the California sunshine.”
E! got additional details about Archie’s life in quarantine, including that he adores video calls. Archie has been “loving doing FaceTime playdates with other small children they have in their lives,” a source said.
Happy Birthday, Archie!
