They’re reportedly honeymooning in Namibia, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have to wait three days before they can jet off on holidays: they have their first official engagement as a royal married couple first.
The event throwing cold water on their immediate honeymoon plans? Prince Charles’ 70th birthday Patronage Celebration, reports Elle UK. To be held in the grounds of Buckingham Palace on May 22, just three days after the royal wedding, the event will be the first that Ms Markle carries out as a member of the royal family.
Royal reporter Omid Scobie first broke the news:
According to Hello!, more than 6000 guests will attend the birthday celebration, including members of the police force, fire and ambulance, mountain rescue and Royal National Lifeboat Institution. Many of the emergency services personnel who responded to the Manchester bombing in May 2017 will also attend.
