Just a few months after their recent move to Los Angeles, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already settled into a new home in Montecito, California;a community in Santa Barbara, approximately an hour outside of Los Angeles.
Their move came as a surprise, considering their friendship with LA neighbour Adele and their joining of the Obama’s speaking agency. But a source close to the couple revealed that Montecito had always been on their short list of places to live after they left their royal duties behind.
According to a source who spoke to Us Weekly, “Meghan visited Montecito in her teens and fell in love with the picturesque scenery and stunning architecture.”
“Moving there was always an option, but to begin with, she and Harry wanted to give Los Angeles a shot”. The source went on to explain why Los Angeles didn’t work out—despite their multiple attempts—and apparently it was all due to Harry.
“Unfortunately, Harry absolutely hated it—the timing was so wrong amid the [coronavirus] pandemic and they lacked privacy,” the source added.
Even though the couple won’t be stationed in Los Angeles, they are still located close enough to the city to pursue career opportunities in the entertainment industry, if they choose to.
“An added bonus is that Montecito is only just over an hour’s drive from L.A., which is where a majority of their work is based, yet far enough away to escape the crowds, paparazzi and tourism in Hollywood,” said the source.
In the meantime, we will wait patiently for any sneak peeks into the Sussex’s new family home.
