He caused an insane amount of drama – first staging a series of photos for the paparazzi, then saying he wouldn’t attend the wedding at the eleventh hour, before suffering a heart attack, rendering him unable to fly over even if he’d wanted to. But Meghan Markle and Prince Harry seem prepared to forgive and forget – apparently, they’re planning a visit.
Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl has told Entertainment Tonight that the royal newlyweds intend to visit Thomas Markle “as soon as possible.”
“I hear one of the things they want to do sooner than later – and now that they’re married – is to go and see Thomas Markle, who is recovering from a heart operation,” Nicholl told ET. “We don’t know when this trip might happen.”
“I’m hearing from people close to Meghan and Harry that they’re very keen to do it.”
Meghan released a statement the day before her wedding addressing the fact that her father would no longer be walking her down the aisle.
“Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding,” it read. “I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”
Following seeing the ceremony on TV, Thomas Markle released a statement about his daughter and how he wishes he could have been there to see it firsthand.
“My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy,” he reportedly told TMZ. “I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and all happiness.”
