In what is sure to go down as one of the most shocking royal interviews of all time, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s controversial interview with Oprah Winfrey has officially aired and Twitter had plenty to say.
And while the tell-all has only just broadcast in Australia, the informational bombshells have been dropping online all day in line with the U.S.’ airing of the special, with a number of explosive revelations from the Sussexes’ side of the story finally being made public—ones that follow tabloid headlines propagating rumours of Meghan’s “alleged” bullying of palace staff during her time as a working royal.
Speaking to the talk show doyenne, the couple, who now live in Los Angeles, revealed that they were practically forced to flee the U.K. and step down as senior royals for Meghan’s mental health as “The Firm” perpetuated falsehoods about them and would not permit her to seek medical attention for her mental health. They also opened up about a conversation in which the royal family privately discussed “how dark” their one-year-old son Archie’s “skin” was going to be before he was born, and that despite previous false rumours, it was actually Kate Middleton who made Meghan cry ahead of the royal wedding, as well as how their present situation mimics that of the late Princess Diana. On a happier note, the couple also revealed that they are having a girl!
Naturally, reactions online were vast and varied, with many Twitter users expressing their frustration over the British Monarchy’s treatment of Meghan, the racist targeting Meghan has endured at the hands of press since joining the royal family, and so much more.
Scroll on to see just some of the reactions to Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview below.

DO THE CROWN NOW AND MEGHAN GETS TO PLAY MEGHAN.

Anyone who says Meghan is "acting"…. listen, if she was that good at acting the peak of her career wouldn't have been Suits

Harry stated his family were very welcoming in the beginning but it changed after the Australian tour (Meghan being great at connecting with people). Oprah asked if this mirrored the jealousy shown to Diana in Netflix’s The Crown. Harry implied this was the case #OprahMeghanHarry

It's really gracious of Meghan to take the time to explain how the the people who run the business of the royal family are separate from the actual family. And to make a point to say the Queen has always been lovely to her in person. #HarryandMeghanonOprah

They pushed this woman to thoughts of ending her life. Them leaving this family was a literal act of survival. Period. #meghanandharry

Oprah just woke up one day and was like "you know what, I'm bored. Lemme take down the British monarchy"

Meghan Markle’s interview hasn’t just exposed the truth about the monarchy, a shadowy institution shrouded in secrecy despite supposedly embodying the nation.
— Owen Jones (@OwenJones84) March 8, 2021
It’s currently exposing everyone who doesn’t care about either racism or suicide.

It’s true what Meghan Markle told @Oprah, we don’t know what goes on in people’s lives behind closed doors. That’s something we can all remember.
