Meghan Markle has made a surprise return to Instagram in support of female-founded business, Clevr.
The Duchess of Sussex famously left the platform and the account she shared with husband, Prince Harry, as part of their departure from royal duties in 2020.
In an appearance at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Next Gen summit, she shared her thoughts behind the decision, saying “I’ve made a personal choice to not have any account, so I don’t know what’s out there, and in many ways that’s helpful for me,” People reported.
But fans were quick to spot the Duchess on Instagram yesterday, after making a cameo in a reel shared by superfood latte brand, Clevr.
Clevr is a range of latte blends, championing the benefits of “adaptogens, mushrooms, and probiotics,” to boost moods and improve brain function. In 2020, The Duchess announced she would invest in the brand.
The footage shared to Instagram shows the brand’s CEO and co-founder, Hannah Mendoza speaking candidly on how The Duchess’ support has transformed her company.
From humble beginnings of “fulfilling orders [in a] garage” with “zero marketing budget,” Mendoza says with the Duchess’ support, “everything changed.”
“Not only did she love the product, she was extremely passionate about supporting female founders, our sustainable sourcing, and our food justice giveback,” Mendoza said. “Meghan ended up becoming our first investor, adviser, and biggest Clevr advocate. She even sent our turmeric latte to friends, and a few days later, I open my phone to see Oprah herself making our Golden SuperLatte in her own kitchen.”
In a press release shared with People in 2021, Meghan said “This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritises building community alongside her business.”
“I’m proud to invest in Hannah’s commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and has a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her and I believe in her company,” she added.
