Buckingham Palace has confirmed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will be attending the European premiere of ‘The Lion King’ this coming Sunday, which means that the royal couple and Beyoncé will both walk the red carpet. The singer, who stars as Nala in the Disney live-action remake, is attending the event as well, according to royal correspondent Omid Scobie.
As Scobie says: Prepare for an Internet break down.
The Duchess of Sussex is still currently on maternity leave following the birth of her first child, Archie Harrison. ITV’s royal editor Chris Ship reports royal mums can pick and choose their appearances while on leave.
Meghan and Beyoncé’s anticipated meeting is expected to be huge, given they’re two of the most famous women on the planet. It’ll also be particularly powerful considering how much Beyoncé has praised Meghan in recent months. The singer included a regal portrait of Meghan in her BRIT Awards acceptance video with Jay-Z in February, to which the royal reportedly reacted with the big eye (👀) emoji.

Beyoncé also congratulated Meghan on her pregnancy on Instagram and shared a tribute to her on her website in honour of Black History Month. She praised the former actress in her unique role as a woman of colour in the British royal family.
“Meghan brought many Black traditions to her Royal Wedding including a Chicago-based Black pastor, an amazing gospel choir, and a young Black cellist,” part of the message reads. “At the wedding, her culture was front and centre, and she and Prince Harry have continued to push the race relations dialogue forward both near and far.”
This meeting is sure to go down in history.
