‘Married At First Sight’ Viewers Accuse The Experts Of ‘Condoning Cheating’

After Jess and Dan's affair is made public

We’ve just witnessed Married At First Sight‘s final commitment ceremony, with six couples becoming five – but in the way nobody would have expected.

Jess and Dan decided to come clean about their affair, and all hell breaks loose in MAFS HQ. The ‘couple’ want to leave their marriages and ask if they can rejoin the experiment and remain for the coming two weeks. Tamara and Mick are none the wiser, but Mick is desperate to leave.

“I came into this experiment wanting to find somebody that I could build a life with,” Jess tells the group. “Somebody that makes me happy and somebody that makes me feel confident and makes me excited to wake up in the morning, and yeah I have found that, but it’s not with Mick. It’s with Dan.” Dan quickly whispers “I’m sorry” to a clearly shocked Tamara.

“I need to get this off my chest,” says Dan explaining that he was attracted to Jess from day one. He explains that they caught up for a drink and had a kiss and that she gives him goosebumps.

After an emotional outburst from both Mick and Tamara, the experts must decide if they will allow Dan and Jess to remain in the experiment.

“There aren’t rules about this because we’ve never had this before,” says Trisha. I can see the group’s point of view, but we can’t let the group make the rules for the experiment…[Our role is to observe], and it’s an experiment, and this has happened within the experiment.” She adds Jess and Dan’s relationship seems authentic.

“I think if they have made this request, and they seem genuine about it, about the relationship, and we’re to say, ‘No, you’re not allowed to do that’, then that’s us intervening, isn’t it?” asks Mel.

“The three of us have decided that we’re going to allow Jess and Dan to continue on in the experiment as a couple…We are not here to judge, or take sides or to intervene in the course of the experiment. If we were to do that, then it would cease being an experiment and it would then become a process at the whim of the experts.”

Twitter has a lot to say about the decision, claiming the three experts have “condoned” cheating.
