Itโs been over a year since the release of A Star is Born and the start of the persistent rumours about Bradley Cooper and Lady Gagaโs on-screen chemistry and rumoured off-screen romance, but still some fans of the film canโt let their dream of Jackson and Ally go, something Oprah Winfrey addressed while interviewing the singer recently.
In a piece for Elle US, Oprah revealed she had been talking to Cooper about the reports recently, saying, โWe were talking about all the rumours about you guys last year. He said if they had been true, he never would have been able to look you in the eye sitting at that piano,โ referencing the pairโs Oscars performance of the hit single โShallowโ.
โHe said his Catholic guilt would have never let him be able to look you in the eye at that piano. How did you feel about all of that at the time? You handled it so well,โ she continued.

โQuite frankly, I think the press is very silly,โ Gaga responded. โI mean, we made a love story. For me, as a performer and as an actress, of course we wanted people to believe that we were in love.โ
She continued: โAnd we wanted people to feel that love at the Oscars. We wanted it to go right through the lens of that camera and to every television that it was being watched on. And we worked hard on it, we worked for days. We mapped the whole thing outโit was orchestrated as a performance.โ
Gagaโs answer is similar to the last time she was asked about the rumours back in February on Jimmy Kimmel Live!: โYes, people saw love, and thatโs what we wanted you to see. This is a love songโฆ It was so important to us that we were connected the entire time. Iโm an artist, and I guess we did a good job โ fooled ya!โ
Thankfully, the co-stars havenโt let the drama wreck their friendship and reportedly still spend lots of time together. Time to make another movie, you guys?
