This Is What Kate Middleton Is Like As A Mum, According To Body Language Experts

Just look at that smile

We’ve been with Kate Middleton through it all. From her college days to the birth of her three adorable children, we feel like we’ve come to know the Duchess of Cambridge less like a public figure, a more like a lifelong friend. When it comes to the royals parenting style, we know she’s a hands-on mum.

“Every time we see Kate out with her children, it’s apparent that they’re always her priority,” Patti Wood, body language expert and author of SNAP: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma told GoodHousekeeping.com.

Prince William and Kate are the proud parents of three adorable royal tots – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Analysing the way she behaves around her children, Wood says it’s her constant eye contact that really proves how loving she really is. Instead of paying attention to the cameras or reporters, Kate is communicating to her children that this moment is about their family more than anything,” says Wood. “It’s a way of creating a special memory despite the pomp and circumstance.”

Kate’s body language is also never affected by the public stage. “Oftentimes, you’ll catch Kate and William with big, toothy grins and open mouths. These contagious smiles indicate spontaneous joy,” says Wood.

Another tactic she employs is bending down to the level of her children. “What’s notable is that Kate’s hands are usually loosely wrapped around her children’s legs,” says Wood. This loose embrace indicates that she’s trusting of her children and giving them the space to explore.

This is always displayed when The Duke of Cambridge and his wife hold their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony.

No doubt Kate will be passing on some of her expert tips to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry with the arrival of their new bub Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor.

Body language expert, Judi James broke down the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s body language when they introduced Archie to the world. Speaking exclusively to Marie Claire UK Online, she said: “Harry and Meghan have supplied several new ‘firsts’ for the royal family and their body language in this appearance was yet another one.

“Unlike other royal males, who have either tended to adopt the alpha dad pose as their wives hold the baby, or held it with the kind of trepidation before swiftly giving it back.”

“Harry cradled his new son throughout while Meghan stood beside him doing all the encouragement and support. He was a pretty adept cradler, too, although some suppressed tension was obvious from the way he self-comfort rubbed his own hand as well as the baby,” she added.
