For Jennifer Aniston, she has rather fond memories over her divorce from Brad Pitt and the end of her wildly famous TV show, Friends.
While the end of a marriage and a sudden career pivot would feel rather overwhelming to some, Aniston is now laughing about the time in her life.
A guest on the final Ellen DeGeneres Show episode, the 53-year-old was asked by DeGeneres how she felt like she handled the finale of the comedy sitcom, back in 2004.
“Well, I got a divorce and went into therapy,” she said, while laughing. “And then I did a movie called The Break Up.”
As for the divorce she’s referring to, Aniston and her then-husband Brad Pitt announced their split in 2005, after they were married for four and a half years.
According to reports, the pair’s marriage ended tumultuously, amidst claims that Pitt had cheated on Aniston with his Mr & Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie. As we know, Jolie and Pitt later married, then split, and are now in a custody battle for their six children.
Thankfully, her split from Pitt hasn’t left any lasting effects on her, admitting that she “leaned” into it.
“I just kind of leaned into the end,” she admitted, adding, “I was like, ‘You know what guys, let’s just make this a completely new chapter. Let’s just end everything, and start new’.”
According to an insider source, they claim that the exes “are still friends” and that they “talk and have a nice, friendly, cordial relationship”, per ET online.
In a 2021 interview on the Howard Stern Show, Aniston herself claimed that “Brad and I are buddies” and that despite their history, there is “no oddness” between the two.
Of course, fans of the pair will remember their backstage reunion at the 2020 SAG Awards, which took place before they reunited once more at a virtual table read for Fast Times At Ridgemont High that same year.
Aniston’s appearance on the final ever episode of the Ellen DeGeneres Show was rather special, as she was the first on-set guest to appear on the talk show back in 2003. And since then, she has been a guest on the show 20 times throughout its 19 seasons.
To which she joked, “I’ve been on your show more than you’ve been on the air.”
Until her next talk show appearance, you can bet that we’ll be binge watching reruns of Friends.
