After nearly six years of dating, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are officially wed. The couple supposedly said “I do” over the United States’ fourth of July holiday weekend at Shelton’s private ranch.
According to Page Six, the 45-year-old Oklahoma native built a private chapel specifically for his own wedding. At the event, the publication also noted that the property included a tent, which was where the reception reportedly took place.
Confirming the news on her Instagram, Stefani shared a series of photos from the love-filled event, including photos of the newlyweds’ throughout their reception and offered a sneak peek at Stefani’s ivory, strapless gown with a deep sweetheart neckline and a full skirt.
She also shared a clip of herself prior to the ceremony, that saw the bride wrapped in a silk robe and sporting a bold red lip with a short, embroidered veil and an oversized bow.
Additionally, photos of guests in attendance were also secured, which included Stefani’s parents, Dennis Stefani and Patty Flynn, en route to the wedding.
Shelton’s 12,000 acre land is located in the rural town of Tishomingo, Oklahoma, only a few hours north of Dallas.
As per TMZ, prior to their nuptials, Shelton and Stefani reportedly secured their marriage license through the Johnston County Court Clerk’s office on June 29. The publication also noted that as per Oklahoma law, once a couple receives their wedding license, they are given up to 10 days to get married, which certainly makes sense given the images obtained over the weekend.
As for how the lovers met, Stefani and Shelton first locked eyes in 2014 as judges on The Voice U.S. but were not romantically linked until one year later, after they had both quietly separated from their spouses.
“It’s not something that anybody could have seen coming, besides God, I guess,” Shelton revealed to Entertainment Tonight in 2016.
“It doesn’t look like it would make sense, you know? But all I can tell you is, it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we’re at in our lives. I tell people all the time, ‘Gwen saved my life last year.’ She did, and I think she would probably tell you something similar about me.”
Back in 2015, Shelton officially filed for divorce from his wife of four years, Miranda Lambert. While Stefani and her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, called it quits in 2015 after 14 years of marriage.
According to E!, the pair became an item by November of 2015 and announced their engagement in October 2020.
However, rumours of their 2021 wedding have been in rotation for quite some time. Back in December 2020, a source close to the couple revealed to Us Weekly that Shelton’s chapel had been built and was ready for the impending nuptials.
“Blake built a chapel on the grounds of his Oklahoma ranch. He did it himself with help. It’s really a tribute to their love. They are going to get married in the chapel, most likely early next year.”
All in all, congratulations to the happy couple!
