Prepare to be hit right in the feels. Upper East Siders or not, fans were left with a nostalgic twinge when two Gossip Girl alum met up for a murder mystery party. People reports that Leighton Meester and Michelle Trachtenberg, aka Blair Waldorf and Georgina Sparks, attended the same theme party, making for an unexpected reunion that could be a storyline straight out of Gossip Girl.
“Spotted. Ms. Waldorf and Ms. Sparks. In the ballroom. With secrets. I’ll never tell. Xoxo,” Trachtenberg wrote alongside a photo of the pair, giving followers exactly what they wanted. Trachtenberg wore a peacock-feather hat and Meester opted for a more subtle beaded headpiece.

This isn’t the first time a Gossip Girl reunion that has happened in recent weeks. Just a few weeks ago, Trachtenberg posted a snapshot with fellow alum Chace Crawford at a pre-Oscar party. Just like on the show, it seems like this crew manages to find each other at glam events, just like old times.
The reunion also comes as news the iconic CW program may be getting a reboot. CW President Mark Pedowitz told reporters at the CW’s portion of the TV Critics’ Association Press Tour on Thursday that there’s “a discussion happening” on whether or not to reboot the iconic series.
Pedowitz said, “I don’t know what it would be,” but it all comes down to the involvement of original EPs Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, adding, “‘Cause you don’t want to do anything without them.”
Gossip Girl ended in 2012, and in 2016 creators Schwartz and Savage claimed they hadn’t thought about rebooting the series at all. “We haven’t really explored some of those conversations,” Schwartz told E! News at the time. “Maybe, I don’t know. We haven’t really thought about it.”
Last year, Penn Badgley (aka Lonely Boy) opened up on the possibility of a reboot.
“I don’t think that could happen for maybe another 10 years because if you look at the shows that are being rebooted, they’re much older,” he commented. “I don’t think any of us are interested in that, the creators or the cast.”
While we wait patiently for the CW to finish their discussions, we’ll have to get our Gossip Girl fix through Penn Badgley’s new series You on Netflix.
