Just a few days after Kristen Stewart revealed she would’ve married Robert Pattinson while simultaniously saying she plans to propose to her current girlfriend, Dylan Meyer, FKA twigs has opened up about her three-year relationship with the actor.
The British singer, who dated Pattinson from 2014-2017 (the two got engaged in 2015), has just released her new album, Magdalene, a body of work that she says was created during a period of heartbreak. Speaking with Zane Lowe on New Music Daily with Zane Lowe, twigs recalled the breakdown of the pair’s relationship, saying, “I really had to find out who I was.”

“That kind of like unmeshing, like when you’re with somebody, your lives become very entwined with like your friends and family and your routine. And then the unmeshing is like, you have to really find out—I had to really find out who I was,” she said. “But I’ve always known who I am, but it’s just kind of discovering who I was in adult crisis. I feel like I’ve never known myself better.
The 31-year-old went on to say that the split was a chance for her to reevaluate what she really wants in a relationship. “As a woman, I was taught that your Prince Charming would choose you, and when he did, you were grateful. And it was more about you being chosen than asking ‘what’s right for me?’, and ‘what do I need to be nurtured or to feel complete?’ Magdalene is unraveling that,” she explained.
Despite recently being linked to actor Shia Labeouf, twigs also reportedly alluded to currently being happily single, saying that being on her own at the moment is “great. I have a dog and we hang…I’ve never felt younger.”
