It’s no secret that Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have developed a strong friendship with Taylor Swift over the years. Their eldest daughter James makes an appearance in her song ‘Gorgeous’ and the pair are often photographed with Swift at her annual 4th of July parties.
Following the release of her new album folklore, Swift has revealed the name of their third daughter: Betty. A source “with knowledge of the situation” told People that “the song was named in part for the couple’s third daughter.” Betty was born in October 2019.
The song, titled ‘betty’, also features the names of Lively and Reynolds’ two other daughters, James and Inez, which is what initially prompted eagle-eyed fans to speculate.
Swift sings: “She said ‘James, get in, let’s drive,'” “You heard the rumours from Inez / You can’t believe a word she says,” and lines like “Betty, I know where it all went wrong.”

Responding to a fan on Instagram, Swift admits the song is about a teen love triangle, so it’s not directly related to the Reynolds children as they are all under the age of six, but rather used as inspiration.
The couple has kept the name under wraps since her birth last year, and when Reynolds made an appearance on the Today Show he made a point to keep it a secret.
When Reynolds was asked how he came up with her name, he joked to the hosts, “We haven’t yet! We’re gonna be original, and all the letters in her name are silent. I want to give her something to push against in life.”
