There’s a “Baby Wildlife Warrior” on the way in 2021. Bindi Irwin and her husband Chandler Powell, who recently tied the knot, have announced they’re expecting a baby girl, sharing a very sweet image to Twitter.
In the announcement, the pair are posing with a new ultrasound of the upcoming addition to their family—and one of their Aldabra tortoises at Australia Zoo.
“Baby girl, you are our world,” Irwin wrote. “Our beautiful daughter is now about the same size as a hatchling Aldabra tortoise and is as healthy as can be. We can’t wait for her arrival next year.”
The couple previously announced that they’re expecting their first child back in August, sharing a sweet message to fans on Instagram.
“Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting!” Irwin wrote. “It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you.
“Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter. We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light. ❤️”
Powell commented on his wife’s post, writing, “You’re going to be the best mother ❤️”.
Bindi’s younger brother, Robert Irwin, also took to Instagram to share the exciting news, “The most exciting news ever! I am so happy for Bindi and Chandler to be welcoming a new member of the family. I can’t believe I’m going to be an uncle!!! It’s such a happy time for our family – I look forward to this brilliant new chapter and all the fun adventures ahead with a new little Wildlife Warrior!”
Earlier this year, Bindi shared the vows she read to Powell on their wedding day, along with an adorable image from the special day.
“Chandler, When I went to write my vows I found I couldn’t stop writing them. I started by sharing all the ways you make my life beautiful and wrote close to a thousand words,” she shared on Instagram at the time. “Then I moved on to write about what an extraordinary person you are and I needed a new pen. Finally, I wanted to share all my hopes for the future and I ran out of notebook paper.”
Congratulations to the couple!
