Leighton Meester and Adam Brody are the celebrity couple of every cheesy millennial 2000s fantasy. The pair have been married for ten years after meeting in 2011, and their romance reads like a millennial fan fiction. Adam Brody, who recently experienced a heartthrob resurgence following his hot-rabbi role in Nobody Wants This, won our tweenage hearts as the geeky Seth Cohen in The O.C.
Meanwhile, Leighton Meester inspired countless Lovisa headband purchases in the 2000s thanks to her role as the wealthy mean girl with a heart of gold, Blair Waldorf, in Gossip Girl. Both series were created by Josh Schwartz, and there were some character overlaps.
Blair was uncannily similar to Seth Cohenโs on-screen girlfriend, the rich and snooty Summer Roberts (played by another short brunette queen, Rachel Bilson), while Cohen could have easily been one of Waldorfโs hapless suitors.
We were all reminded of how much we love this duo when they hit the red carpet on 5 January for the Golden Globes in matching (but not โmatchyโ) green looks. Brody was nominated for his role in Nobody Wants This, and while being interviewed on the red carpet, he appeared to tease a future collaboration.
In a red-carpet interview with E!, the usually private pair shared a few choice comments about their relationship, including what itโs like working together.
The couple have co-starred previously, meeting on the 2011 film The Oranges and later starring in the 2014 film Life Partners after theyโd tied the knot. Brody also made a guest appearance in Meesterโs sitcom Single Parents in 2019.
โWe always like to work together when it comes up,โ Adam Brody told E!.
โIt comes up a lot,โ quipped Meester.
Thatโs rightโapparently, Hollywood directors are as keen as we are to see the pair on screen together again.
โItโs true,โ Brody continued. โAlmost everything we do, theyโre like, โWould your husband or wife want to be in this as well?โโ
Weโre ready to pitch Josh Schwartz our Gossip Girl x The OC fan fiction scripts at a momentโs notice.
