Brittany Higgins is embracing the ‘new year, new you’ mantra by closing off 2023 with a move to France.
Higgins and her fiancé, David Sharaz, are reportedly headed to a communal village in the south of France , where it’s understood they’ve secured a small property.
Higgins appeared to quietly confirm the the news this morning via Instagram, where she posted a round-up of Australian sites alongside the caption, “No matter how far or how wide I roam, I still call Australia home.”
The post came hours after Higgins and Sharaz were snapped farewelling family at Brisbane airport, with multiple media outlets confirming the two were indeed headed to France.
According to Mamamia, Higgins and Sharaz plan to learn French in their new homeland, with Sharaz already posting call-outs in a Facebook group seeking a French tutor and a gardener.
Higgins also seemingly confirmed the pair will be joined abroad by her cavoodle, Kingston, telling an Instagram commenter she “couldn’t live without him”.
The relocation comes weeks after Higgins spent a gruelling four days in Federal Court, for her testimony in Bruce Lehrmann’s defamation trial against Lisa Wilkinson and Network Ten.
The case pertains to an interview Higgins did with Lisa Wilkinson on The Project, in which she alleged she was sexually assaulted by a political staffer in Parliament House. While Lehrmann was not mentioned by name during the interview, his lawyers argue he could be easily identified. Lehrmann has always denied any wrongdoing. The trial is ongoing.
