It’s a happy day for Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who has revealed he’s engaged to his long-term partner, Jodie Haydon.
The Prime Minister announced the news on social media, sharing a sweet selfie of he and Jodie, showing off their engagement ring.
“She said yes,” Albanese captioned the photo, alongside a red heart emoji.
Albanese, 60, and Haydon, 45, met at an event in Melbourne in 2020. The pair bonded over supporting the South Sydney NRL team.
During an address to the room, the then-MP asked the room if there were any South Sydney rugby league supporters in the audience, to which Haydon reponnded, “Up the Rabbitohs!”
Not long after this, Albanese and Haydon, met for a drink in Sydney’s Newtown, the pair told The Australian Women’s Weekly in their first joint interview.
Albanese resides in Marrickville, Sydney, in his electorate of Grayndler. However, he and Haydon have separate residences, with Jodie living in the neighbouring suburb of Stanmore.
Ms Haydon, who was born in the Sydney suburb of Bankstown, works in financial services and continues as a charity ambassador and women’s advocate.
Haydon has accompanied the PM to a number of official engagements worldwide, including the Coronation of King Charles in 2023.
