After eleven years and two children, Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber have announced their split.
“Over the past few months we’ve come to the conclusion that the best way forward for us as a family is to separate as a couple,” they said in a statement released to ET.
“It is with great love, respect, and friendship in our hearts that we look forward to raising our children together and exploring this new phase of our relationship.”
“While we appreciate your curiosity and support, we ask the press to be mindful of our children and respect their right to privacy.”
Naomi, 47, and Liev, 47, have been together since 2005, they never married but they welcomed two sons, Alexander, nine, and Samuel, seven.
The Aussie actress opened up to Los Angeles Confidential back in February about struggles in relationships.
“Relationships are hard whether you’re famous or not. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have to work on it,” she admitted.
“Being an actor doesn’t change anything.”
The couple have starred in three films together, including 2008’s The Painted Veil, 2013’s Movie 43, and The Bleeder which is due for release later this year.
