Just when we thought we’d never getting over our Selling Sunset withdrawals, Netflix went and dropped the one thing that would appease our cravings (besides Selling Sunset season four). Cue: Million Dollar Beach House.
If you think about it, it’s hardly surprising that both shows became such a hit in 2020. Considering that most of us have been at home all year due to quarantine, the chance to take a peek inside the kind of real estate we could only ever dream of affording seemed quite fitting (and mildly torturous) for a time in which we’ve barely left the house.
Well, that, and the fact that it gave us A-grade reality TV drama, which is really all we’re craving in what has been a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad year.
And just like Selling Sunset, Million Dollar Beach House left a number of things in the air in the finale, leaving many of us primed and ready for another round.
Feeling the withdrawals? Below, everything we know about Million Dollar Beach House season two, from the plot to the release date and all things in between.
Is Million Dollar Beach House returning for season 2?
At this point in time, Netflix has yet to announce whether Million Dollar Beach House has been renewed for season two. This, of course, doesn’t mean anything just yet. The first season only dropped on August 26, and the streaming platform generally prefers to monitor a show’s performance for a while before green-lighting another season.
And while renewal may be likely, as with many shows, it is possible that the coronavirus pandemic may impact their ability to film (which is seemingly the case with Selling Sunset season four, according to Christine) and thus delay things for some time.
That said, the Nest Seekers team (CC: Peggy Zabakolas, J.B. Andreassi, Noel Roberts, Michael Fulfree and James Giugliano) have still been hard at work in the Hamptons, with Noel seen showing a $5.9 million house on August 20.
Another point worth remembering? As we saw in the show, Hamptons real estate only sells in the ‘on-season’, meaning summertime.
So, unless they’ve got more footage up their sleeves already from when they filmed in 2019 (season one was only six episodes, after all), they might not film again until the US summer 2021, which could mean season two is a long while away.
Still, there is hope. Noel recently told Worth that there is a chance season two might film in the US autumn.
“I hope this goes 10 seasons, but we are already looking at a season two, potentially, in September, October, which would come out maybe early next year,” he said.
Fingers crossed!
What’s going to happen on Million Dollar Beach House season 2?
Warning, spoilers ahead! Season one of Million Dollar Beach House finished somewhat abruptly, leaving us all with many questions, a major one being: does Peggy come back?
Based on her Instagram account, Peggy is still seemingly a part of Nest Seekers, and will therefore probably be back if and when season two is filmed. It also seems we may get to witness more of her feud with Noel, as Peggy herself has admitted she’s “not sure what happened”.
“I think that there really isn’t much resolution. We obviously discussed things off camera, but I think I was trying so hard to see the true him and trying so hard to get down to the bottom of what was going on. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt and trying to pull these layers off of him that he wasn’t ready to do,” she told Esquire.
“So I think now I just know what I’m getting with him. It is what it is. I can’t expect anything. We’re so civil, we’re cordial, we work together.
“There’s no bad blood, it’s just I still have no idea what the truth really was, so I just left it at that and just moved on. And it’s good to know that as a viewer you feel like you’re not sure what happened because I’m not either.”
And while season one focused significantly on drama between the cast members, especially Peggy and Noel, it seems season two might include a little more on their personal lives.
In an interview with Us Weekly, J.B. revealed that he would be open to sharing more of his life in the future.
“The most important thing to me is my family. If I’m not working, that’s who I’m with, so I think for season 2, if you want to get to know me a little bit more, I’ll have to bring in my brother and sister, my mom and dad and possibly even my girlfriend,” he said.
“I’m definitely open to it but it might take a little bit of convincing!”
Similarly, Michael, whose wife Samantha was pregnant during season one, has since given birth to their son Luca. So, it’s possible that we see may more of his life outside work, if and when the show returns.
In the meantime? We’ll be scanning the Internet for clues and Selling Sunset memes.
