Milan Fashion Week has come and gone for another season, bringing with it many a must-know moment. Showing off their autumn/winter ‘19/’20 collections, designers were looking to the past for inspiration, seeking out once-loved trends, referencing bygone eras and taking influence from the chicest women of the past.
The resulting looks were everything we want in an Italian designer: elegant, but with a touch of glamour. Monocolours ruled, detail was added in the most unexpected of places, and wearability reigned. In all, it was a season that will make women very happy. Below, our editors round up their favourite moments from the shows.
JANA POKORNY, Fashion Director:
Prada
I love this look from Prada – the perfect combination between hard and soft – such a romantic silhouette in a fabric normally reserved for tailoring and outerwear.
MONICA RUSSELL, Market Editor:
Bottega Veneta
Could not even deal with the whole Bottega show, heaven! This buttery leather coat was a highlight. Paired back with the chunky stomping boots it was complete perfection.
CHLOE BUTTENSHAW, Senior Fashion Editor
Jil Sander
The layering at Jil Sander was spot on and I loved the shapes throughout the show. This feathering top and wide leg pants is my pick of the best.
FRANCESCA WALLACE, Senior Digital Fashion Editor
Max Mara
I fell in love with Max Mara’s show the minute I saw it. All the monotones and the rich creamy outfits. Someone please give me a Max Mara knit to live in this winter ahhhh!
ELLA BLINCO JURY, Fashion Office Coordinator
Fendi
I loved the opening look from Fendi. The cute bow paired with the structured tailoring of the blazer is heaven. Also loving the slick back vintage inspired hair throughout the show!
