Meghan Markle‘s estranged father and half-sister have made a habit of creating a media frenzy with their ill-advised comments.
So when the Duchess of Sussex confirmed she’s expecting her first child next April, we expected Thomas and Samantha to weigh in sooner or later…
Taking a break from publicly shading Prince Harry and Meghan, the Markle’s were surprisingly positive about the royal baby.
“It just makes everything that happened over the last year disappear,” Samantha told The Sun, according to E! News. “I want Meghan to be happy and calm and have peace. Everybody needs to be positive.”
Samantha added that she and her dad feel the same way, but that she hopes Thomas’s omission from the palace’s birth announcement was “not intentional.”
“If he is excluded, I won’t be happy. It is in the best interests of the baby for my dad to be included.”
While Prince Harry and Meghan are on their 16-day tour of Australia, the Royal family has also publically congratulated the couple on the happy news.
The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, and Kate are all “delighted” for the couple, the Palace said, via People.
Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland also issued a statement via Kensington Palace, which said, “Ms. Ragland is very happy about this lovely news and she looks forward to welcoming her first grandchild.”
