Married At First Sight’s Ines Basic, 29, has been the target of a despicable Facebook event following her villainous portrayal on the popular “social experiment.”
According to an exclusive report published by the Daily Mail, Victoria Police was forced to intervene after alarm bells were raised over the hate-fuelled Facebook page. While an exact number has not been confirmed, “thousands” of internet trolls had said they were ‘attending’ the event, which was located just minutes away from where Basic was staying and photographed in Melbourne.
Facebook has since taken action and removed the ‘event’ listing from the website. Channel 9 is yet to comment on the event according to the report.
The incident comes after eliminated contestant Lauren Huntriss spoke out about the unfair portrayal of contestants, calling for a greater duty of care to be shown by the show’s producers towards contestants.
“Producers will go to extreme lengths to tell a story and they will edit you, manipulate you in any way that they can to tell that story,” Lauren told KIIS FM.
MAFs viewers will be familiar with Basic’s storyline, which saw her exit the show after her affair with contest Sam Ball was revealed to her ‘husband’ Bronson Norris.
After walking away from the show, Ines was asked if she regrets the experience?
“I think regret’s a really powerful word,” Basic told Honey. “It causes people depression. And it causes people to be incapable of moving forwards in life. Obviously we still have times in life when the transitions are very painful and sometimes you want to suppress them or you want to deny them. But everything we do in life I think is for our own personal growth. There’s so much to learn from.”
