It seemed like almost every star in Hollywood made an appearance on the 2023 Oscars red carpet but Australian viewers might have noticed one their favourite stars was missing.

Margot Robbie was noticeably absent from the flood of stars walking this year’s champagne coloured carpet.

However, just as all hope of seeing another of the 32-year-old actress’s fabulous awards night outfits had vanquished, Robbie appeared on the Oscars stage in a glittering black Armani gown while accompanying Morgan Freeman to mark 100 years of Warner Bros.

Unfortunately, Aussie viewers didn’t get the chance to see our girl due to broadcasting rights that meant no advertisements could be played on international broadcasts.

For her brief Oscars moment, Robbie opted for a black sequinned off-the-shoulder Giorgio Armani Privé gown that cut a stunning hourglass shape.

She paired the dress with Manolo Blahnik heels, diamond drop earrings and a matching diamond ring, while her long blonde hair was styled into centre part.

When it came to makeup, Robbie kept things soft and romantic with soft smokey eye, rosy blush and a glossy pink lip.

Seeing as most of the other Oscars presenters walked the red carpet, its not known why Robbie decided to skip all the glitz and glamour at the start of the show.

However, her absence did mean that she probably missed Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel’s quip about her recent film, Babylon’s box office failure.

“There are some things that movies can do that TV just can’t,” Kimmel said. “For example, a TV show can’t lose $100 million. Is the gang from Babylon here? They know.”

The film, which was directed by Damien Chazzelle and Robbie played a starring role, failed to receive many favourable reviews and struggled to make money at the box office.

According to News.com.au, the film only made around $US63 million against a budget of $US80 million.

Despite this, Babylon was still received Oscars nominations for production design, costume design, and original score.

While Robbie didn’t receive any nominations this time round, the star has previously been nominated for her roles in I, Tonya and Bombshell

Even if Robbie didn’t make the red carpet, we’re still glad we got a glimpse of one of our favourite stars on the night of nights.

Here’s to hoping that Robbie’s next film, Barbie scores her an Oscars nomination or two next year.
