Married At First Sight stars Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson are one of the few success stories to come out of the controversial reality TV show. Post-show, they didn’t just stay together, they got married – for real, this time.

On Sunday, they wed in Sydney, and last night, A Current Affair aired a special from inside their wedding.

While some fellow MAFS stars were happy for the couple – Cyrell Paule, Nic Jovanovic and Heidi Latcham even attended the big day – others had some very strong feelings about the TV special.

Mick Gould shared a video of himself angrily switching off his TV when the wedding special came on. Yelling at host Tracy Grimshaw, he said, “Oh bloody… who gives a f…. f**k off!”

Unsurprisingly, the series’ villain Jessika Power, who clashed with Jules on numerous occasions, was equally unimpressed. In a selfie video, she rolled her eyes and shook her head in disapproval. Her caption read, “I wish MAFS and A Current Affair paid me $75,000 to act like a complete t**t on TV.”

MAFS star Patrick Miller, who was from a previous season, also had a go at the couple, saying their ceremony was “’beyond a joke, to be honest”.

Among all the backlash, there were some words of support.

Dino Hira said in a video supplied to Daily Mail Australia, “Congratulations, Jules and Cam, Mr and Mrs Merchant. I’m genuinely so happy for you guys to blossom into such an amazing couple, who are now husband and wife!”

“It’s so nice to see that out of the whole experiment, at least one couple made it. I cannot wait to see a family come out of this. I couldn’t be happier,” he added.

Another fellow MAFS star (from an earlier season), Nick Furphy said that the newlyweds “deserve happiness”.

The day before the wedding special aired, Melissa Lucarelli posted a photo of her and bride-to-be Jules. While the two were previously friends, Mel was dumped as a bridesmaid via text just weeks before the ceremony.

“Yes the rumours are true. Yes Jules dumped me as a bridesmaid. No I wasn’t at the wedding event of the year. 🙃,” Mel wrote.

Plenty of MAFS stars rallied behind Mel, including Ning, who took a swipe at the newlyweds:

“I never get invited to heaps of things babe, no sweat over here. You can come to my wedding? Oh wait a minute… I need a man, all the monies and the tv crew whoops I’m screwed 😂 love you babe 😘”

Jessika, Tamara Joy, Elizabeth Sobinoff and Mike Gunner all offered words of support to Mel.
