Stop everything because a Zoey 101 reboot could be happening. TMZ reports that Britney Spears’ younger sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, is in talks with Nickelodeon to reboot the series that made her a child star. She’d, of course, reprise her role as Zoey Brooks.
According to TMZ, Jamie has been talking with channel executives about the show and is in with some key changes. The new Zoey 101 would follow Zoey’s life at 28, as an adult in Southern California with kids of her own. This show, as TMZ described it, would be “Zoey with an edge.”
Spears is also preparing for an upcoming role in Netflix’s Sweet Magnolias series. The streaming service announced that Jamie would be playing “Noreen Fitzgibbons, a young woman who is determined to build a new life for herself after a series of bad choices.” Sweet Magnolias is being adapted from the novel series by Sherryl Woods.
“Mama’s going back to work y’all 🎬🎥,” she wrote on her Instagram. “Can’t wait for y’all to meet “Noreen”!! I fell in love with this story, and so excited I get to be a part of telling it ❤️❤️ #SweetMagnolias.”
Jamie is yet to comment on the Zoey news, but we’re here for the nostalgia.
