Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is calling on new doctors as Grey’s Anatomy confirms its return for a 21st season.
The high-intensity medical drama, born from the brilliant mind of Shonda Rhimes, has already returned for a milestone season this year with more chaos, more drama, and more of the fictional doctors we love.
That’s right, season 20 only just aired on screens – officially making it the longest-running primetime medical drama.
But the question on everyone’s mind is: does Ellen Pompeo as Meredith Grey return? We answer that and more below.
Who Is In The Cast Of Grey’s Anatomy Season 20?
For season 20, Jessica Capshaw returns as a guest star to reprise her role as Dr. Arizona Robbins, and Alex Landi returns as Dr. Nico Kim.
Joining them are newcomers Natalie Morales as Monica Beltran, a paediatric surgeon, and Freddy Miyares in a recurring role as Dorian, an intelligent, warm and likable patient.
Other familiar faces returning include James Pickens Jr. as Richard Webber and Chandra Wilson as Miranda Bailey, among others.
It’s unclear at this stage who will be officially returning for season 21, but we can expect the main cast to remain intact.
Is Ellen Pompeo In Grey’s Anatomy Season 20?
As for Ellen Pompeo, who stars as Meredith Grey, it was confirmed at the 2024 Television Critics Association Press Tour that she will be in at least four episodes this season.
It’s the first time Meredith has not appeared as a series regular in the show’s history.

Grey’s Anatomy made its long-awaited return with season 20 on March 28 on Disney+.
No details on the release for season 21 have been revealed just yet, but we can expect it to arrive sometime in 2025.
