Tripadvisor has released its ‘Best of the Best Beaches of 2024‘ list and only one Australian beach made the cut.
Portugal’s was crowned the best beach in the world for it’s beauty, cleanliness and access to public transport and dining.
Following Praia de Falésia was Italy’s Spiaggia dei Conigli on the island of Lampedusa, Spain’s La Concha Beach in San Sebastian, Hawaii’s Ka’anapali Beach in Maui, Grace Bay Beach in the Turks and Caicos islands and Anse Lazio on Pralin Island in the Seychelles.
However, number seven was claimed by one famous Australian beach—and no, it’s not Bondi.
The more northern but just as famed Manly Beach made the list for it’s central location, warm waters with nets and saltwater pool, long beach walkway and panoramic views.
Plus, locals will know that there’s also a huge array of bars and restaurants just beyond the promenade, as well as the quieter marine reserve, Shelley Beach, around the corner.
The online travel agency’s Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of The Best titles are only ‘awarded to destinations and locations that receive a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community over 12 months’.
Only 1% of more than around 8 million listings achieve this—which means Manly Beach has something special.
