Julia Roberts Reminds Us To Not Invite Her To Weddings In ‘Ticket To Paradise’ Trailer

And George Clooney agrees.

When it comes to Julia Roberts and onscreen weddings, well, they just don’t seem to mix very well.

In fact, it’s been 25 years since she professed her love for the groom and chased down the bride in the ’90s classic film, My Best Friend’s Wedding, yet she’s still hellbent on meddling with another matrimony.

Now, she stars in a new film alongside George Clooney, where they play a divorced couple who both have plans to destroy their own daughter’s wedding in Bali—which was actually filmed in Australia. Starring for the first time alongside each other since the Ocean’s Eleven franchise, the pair haven’t been in a romantic comedy for quite some time, so Ticket To Paradise is a sight for sore eyes.

Thankfully, Universal Pictures heard our calls for a rom-com reunion and have released a full-length trailer for us to feast our eyes on ahead of its release. Suffice to say, we’re counting down the days until it hits cinemas.

Below, everything we know about Julia Roberts and George Clooney’s Ticket To Paradise—from the plot and cast to the release date in Australia.

What is Ticket To Paradise the musical about?

As we know from the previously released synopsis, Ticket to Paradise will follow Roberts and Clooney as a divorced couple whose daughter impulsively decides to marry a very attractive man in Bali while she’s on vacation. Her parents fly out to find her and put a stop to what they believe is a huge mistake—the very same one they made 25 years prior.

Teaming up to scheme and try to break the couple up, under the guise of protecting their daughter from throwing her career away, it looks as if they’ll eventually learn that it is her life to live, not theirs.

Who has been cast in Ticket To Paradise?

Directed by Ol Parker (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), the film obviously stars Roberts and Clooney in the two lead roles. Joining them is Booksmart‘s Kaitlyn Dever who stars as their daughter, as well as her former co-star Billie Lourd and Emily In Paris‘ Lucas Bravo, to name a few.

Is there a trailer for Ticket To Paradise?

Rejoice, our first official look at the flim is here with a full-length trailer being released on June 30. In the almost three-minute trailer, the audience gets a glimpse at Clooney and Roberts’ strained relationship between their characters, starting with a refusal to sit next to each other on the plane ride over. It’s clear that almost immediately, the pair reluctantly choose to join forces with the same motivation to “save” their daughter.

“Worst 19 years of my life,” Clooney said in the trailer, referring their onscreen divorce, to which Roberts replies, “We were only married for five.”

“I’m including the recovery,” he snaps back.
