We’ve been excited for Big Little Lies – Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman’s HBO show launching next year – since the first trailer was revealed in October.
Today, a more extended clip has been released, and, well, let’s just say that things are heating up in the bay of Monterey, where this HBO yummy mummy murder mystery is set.
This trailer gives us an in-depth look at the storyline, taken from Australian author Liane Moriarty’s bestselling novel Big Little Lies, and updated with an American setting.
We know that Nicole Kidman’s character is embroiled in a steamy, torrid relationship with a much younger man. We know that Reese Witherspoon is the alpha female of this ladies-who-brunch set. We know that Shailene Woodley is struggling with being a mother. We know that Laura Dern – at her most glossy, blown-out self – is the antagonist.
And we know that there’s a whole group of gossipy women, passing judgement on their actions in the shadows.
(The only thing missing from this new trailer was all that Kitchen Sex. Bring back the Kitchen Sex, we say!)
Is it just us, or does this remind us a lot of Gossip Girl? And that’s a very, very good thing. Stay tuned.
Big Little Lies will air on Foxtel’s Showcase in 2017.
