Wagons have generally been considered the not-cool family car, ever since SUVs came on the market. But they are having somewhat of a revival. The Renault Megane for example, is one of the chicest wagons around (being French helps). And while it has a fairly lurchy takeoff, looking good with big bootspace is the aim of the game here.

The best bit about this car is that it looks high-end without the luxury price tag. Everywhere I went people thought I was in a seriously expensive car, but it comes in at $37,990. A bargain for the stylish interiors.

Itโ€™s a good option for those looking under the $40K price bracket.

Parking is a cinch with a reverse parking camera and 360 degree sensors to stop you banging into poles. It has all the spanky new safety equipment youโ€™d expect in a 2018 vehicle, like auto emergency braking, which means that if youโ€™re driving along and youโ€™re about to hit the car in front of you, the car will stop by itself. Really. The sound system was also great for a car in this price range.

So, despite minor technical difficulties like the jerky takeoff, this one is a good option for anyone looking for a big boot but doesnโ€™t want an SUV.
