It's been dubbed 'Gossip Girl' meets 'Pretty Little Liars'

Described by Netflix as a modern take on 1954 dystopian novel Lord of the Flies, The Society follows a group of teenagers who find themselves mysteriously transported to a twisted version of their wealthy New England town, West Ham.

The Society stars a cast of up-and-coming stars like Australia’s own Natasha Liu Bordizzo and has a “female-centric” approach to the classic tale.

What is The Society about?

The Society follows a group of teenagers who are mysteriously transported to a facsimile of their wealthy New England town, left without any trace of their parents,” the official Netflix descriptor says. “As they struggle to figure out what has happened to them and how to get home, they must establish order and form alliances if they want to survive. The series is a modern take on Lord of the Flies.”

The show consists of 10 one-hour episodes and was filmed just outside of Boston.

Who has been cast?

The Society stars a slew of rising actors, including Big Little Lies’ Kathryn Newton, Blockers‘ Gideon Adlon, Legion’s Rachel Keller, and more.

The show will arrive on Netflix Australia on May 10, 2019.
