One of the most talked about shows of 2017 was Jessica Biel’s gripping Netflix creation, The Sinner. Not only did Biel produce the murder-mystery, she starred in it too, giving a chilling performance that had her nominated for a Golden Globe.
When the series was confirmed to return, the exciting news came with a major catch: Biel would no longer appear on screen, rather staying behind the camera to produce.
Fans were concerned the hit show would lose its charm, however, just one week since its release and it’s clear season two is as good – if not better – than the first.
Similar to that of season one, The Sinner‘s second instalment is focused around a murder, which at first glance seems to make no sense.
This time, rather than a housewife (Cora Tanetti, played by Biel) attacking a man on the beach in broad daylight, we have 13-year-old Julian Walker (Elisha Henig), who kills two people in a hotel room without explanation (that’s not a spoiler, promise).
Detective Harry Ambrose (Bill Pullman) from season one is assigned the case (thankfully, we have less of his creepy sexual fetishes this time around) and quickly discovers that Julian was raised in Mosswood Grove, a notorious cult in the area.
That’s where Vera Walker (Carrie Coon) comes in – a woman claiming to be Julian’s mum. But as anyone who’s watched season one would know, there’s – a lot – more to the story than you’d think.
The full season dropped on Netflix last week, so cancel all your plans and prepare for an epic watch.
