Netflix has some great arrivals planned for April, one of which has left fans on the edge of their seats. The Silence is an upcoming Netflix Original horror film based on the 2015 novel of the same name by Tim Lebbon. Many fans have compared the upcoming film to A Quiet Place and Bird Box.

Plot
The novel was adapted for a screenplay by Carey and Shane Van Dyke with John E. Leonetti in the director’s seat. The official synopsis reads: “When the world is under attack from terrifying creatures who hunt their human prey by sound, 16-year old Ally Andrews (Kiernan Shipka), who lost her hearing at 13, and her family seek refuge in a remote haven. But they discover a sinister cult who are eager to exploit Ally’s heightened senses.”

Lead actress Kiernan Shipka in preparation for her role learned American Sign Language.
Director of The Silence John R. Leonetti in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter had the following to say about Shipka’s dedication to the role: “She learned to sign for the film, and now she’s flawless like she’s been signing her entire life. She seems to have an almost innate sense of what it’s like being a deaf person.”
