2022 is truly the year for legal dramas. Barely a week after dropping on Netflix, The Lincoln Lawyer has surged to the number one most-watched slot in Australia, following in the footsteps of Netflix’s Anatomy Of A Scandal and Disney+’s The Dropout

The new 10-part series, adapted from the book series of the same name by Michael Connelly, is easy to love—not least because of its iconic lead character, Mickey Haller (played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo). Not one for formalities, Haller runs a legal practice from the back of his Lincoln town car, with the duration of the first season about a case he takes on for a video game billionaire who is accused of murdering his wife and her boyfriend.

It’s full of revelations and a glamorised legal rhetoric similar to the legacy left behind by Suits. Naturally, the show has got viewers wondering if a second season is in our midst.

Here, everything we know (so far) about a possible season two.

Will there be a second season of The Lincoln Lawyer?

At the time of writing, Netflix is yet to confirm if a second season has the green light—but going by the success of the first instalment, we’re willing to bet an announcement is close.

What could happen in season 2?

In case you missed it—we’re about to delve into some major spoilers from season one, you’ve been warned. As the series comes to a close, it becomes clear that the jury in the murder case has been tampered with, but Mickey still manages to get Trevor (Christopher Gorham) off from the murder charges. So who killed his wife?

Well, as it turns out Trevor was behind the murder of both Lara as well as her lover Jan—he simply used a drone to hide his clothes and the murder weapon.

The next question we need an answer to is who killed Jerry—Mickey’s fellow lawyer friend who was killed while working the case. As it turns out, juror number 7, known as McSweeney did the deed under the order of Judge Holder, the very person who had rigged the juror list. She is then taken into custody after admitting to the crime while she was wire-tapped.

Finally, we all want to know who is behind Mickey’s death threats. He first suspects the Russian billionaire, or could it have been Judge Holder? No matter the answer, we’ll likely learn more about Mickey and those watching his movements in season two.

And if you want some potential spoilers on the possibilities of the second season, we recommend reading up on Connelly’s books—season one was adapted from the second novel in his Lincoln Lawyer series, so it remains to be seen which book season two will focus on.

When will season 2 be released?

Given that the second season is yet to be confirmed, it’s difficult to pin-point when the second season could drop—that said, it usually takes around 12 months for pre-production, filming and post-production to complete, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed for sometime in 2023.
