Every year, we fall back in love with the cult Christmas film Love Actually.
After all, who could forget Hugh Grant’s classic dance moves and when Mark (played by Andrew Lincoln) finally confesses his undying love to Juliet (played by Keira Knightley) through the use of cue cards.

But writer and director Richard Curtis has revealed that he cut a significant scene from the film featuring an older lesbian couple.
In the original script, Anna Reid plays a stern headmistress who is in a relationship with terminally ill Geraldine (played by Frances de la Tour). You can watch the deleted scene below:
Talking about the scene, Curtis said: “The idea was meant to be you just casually met this very sort of stern headmistress and the idea was meant to be that later on in the film we suddenly fell in with the headmistress and you realise that no matter how unlikely it seems, that any character you come across in life has their own complicated tale of love.”

The final scene shows Emma Thompson’s character sadly announcing that Geraldine has passed away.
Cue tears.
