‘The Crown’ Season Four Trailer Offers Us A Glimpse Of Princess Diana And Her Famous Wedding Dress

With Emma Corrin playing the part of Princess Diana

If you’ve felt a royals-shaped hole in your life since season three of The Crown aired in 2019, you’re not alone. As we embrace production delays of our beloved TV shows, we were expecting to not see our favourite royals for a while, but it looks like our patience has paid off.

On August 20, Netflix released the first official trailer for the upcoming fourth season, and it looks to be centred around Princess Diana herself.

The trailer for the new season, which premiers on November 15, includes clips of actress Emma Corrin’s portrayal of the late princess. While the preview never gives us a clear shot of Diana’s face, it does flash to iconic moments of her life, including her 1983 royal tour of Australia and her 1981 royal wedding to Prince Charles.

With the latter, the final scene from the trailer offers a glimpse of Diana in her wedding dress, ready to walk down the aisle. However, The Crown‘s version of the wedding ensemble is an impressive replica of the real-life original, which was designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel and paired with a 153-yard veil.

Corrin was announced to play Diana in April 2019, to which she responded: “I have been glued to the show and to think I’m now joining this incredibly talented acting family is surreal,” she revealed in a statement at the time.

“Princess Diana was an icon and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring. To explore her through Peter Morgan’s writing is the most exceptional opportunity and I will strive to do her justice!”

Alongside her in the role is her costar Josh O’Connor, who plays Prince Charles. In a late 2019 interview with Harper’s BAZAAR U.S., O-Connor praised Corrin for her accurate portrayal of the late princess. “Emma’s doing a brilliant job, and it’s breathtakingly accurate; she looked the spitting image [of Diana], and it’s kind of extraordinary, so that’s kind of spooky.”

Corrin won’t return after season four, however. In The Crown‘s final two instalments, Diana will be played by Australian actress Elizabeth Debicki, which was announced on August 17.
