Amy Locane who played Southern-bred aspiring actress, Sandy Louise Harling, in season one of Melrose Place, may not have become a huge household name – however she has remained in the public eye.

In 2010, the actress was arrested for driving behind the wheel three times over the legal alcohol limit, tragically killing a 60-year-old woman. After serving just 2.5 years in jail, Locane was released last week after the woman’s family appealed her sentence. Speaking out to nj.com, Locane described her prison experience as “dehumanising”.

Her time in prison also affected her relationship, divorcing her husband, businessman, Mark Bovenizer in 2015, with whom she has children with.

The actress who also starred in Cry Baby in 1990 alongside Johnny Depp, has since turned down several acting offers, planning on educating others of the dangers of drink driving and gaining custody of her daughters.
