Warning: The following contains serious spoilers for Stranger Things.
Ever since Stranger Things season three finished up, fans have been left with a Hawkins-shaped hole in their lives. But there’s no need to fear, as season four is fast approaching and several trailers have landed, we’ve now got a little more idea about what to expect.
On May 6, Netflix piqued viewers interest thanks to their release of an ominous new teaser video. Titled “Eleven, are you listening?”, the one-minute clip seemingly sees Eleven back at the facility she escaped from in the show’s first season.
Following Jim Hopper’s apparent death at the end of the third season, it only makes sense that perhaps Eleven was sent back to the establishment she longed to run from. But of course, check out the teaser below to see for yourself.
It wasn’t our first look into the next season of the hit sci-fi series. On September 30, Netflix released its first ominous teaser video, showcasing the Stranger Things 4 logo along with the foreboding tagline, “We’re not in Hawkins anymore.”
And along with it, the first official teaser trailer that shows one of our favourite characters who is set to make a small screen comeback.
In the teaser, the series looks to venture into uncharted territory as the opener introducers viewers to a snow-ridden railroad in a mysterious Russian location.
But the biggest surprise of all is that Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is back despite his disappearance last season.
In August 2021, Netflix gifted us with another blessed sneak peek of the new season, and this time, we feel sure to expect several things from the new season: The gang get back together (they’re seen creeping around with torches), Hopper is around, and Eleven has a new haircut.
What Is The Plot Of Stranger Things Season 4?
Executive producer Shawn Levy told Collider in April that there is no reason to worry about the story continuing. “I will say we have a good sense of stuff that happens in Season 4,” he said. “Season 4 is definitely happening.”
But, don’t get too reattached as the Duffy brothers, the creators behind the series, told Vulture in 2017 that this could be the final instalment. “We’re thinking it will be a four-season thing and then out,” Ross Duffer said. His brother, Matt, followed: “I don’t know if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year.”
If that’s not enough to see you cancel any clashing social plans, Netflix later shared a sneak glimpse at the cast kicking things off with their first season 4 table reading.
Filmed using an old school camcorder effect, the show’s favourite characters reunite to flick through the forthcoming script.
Who Is Cast In Stranger Things Season 4?
This series is nothing without the young teens that lead it, so expect to see the usual crew: Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Mike (Finn Wolfhard), Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Will (Noah Schnapp), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), and Max (Sadie Sink) make their return.
And let’s not discount Erica (Priah Ferguson), Lucas’s little sister, who brings a lot of humour and not-not-nerdy know-how to those death-defying moments.
Expect to see Steve (Joe Keery), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and Robin (Maya Hawke) too.
When Will Stranger Things Season 4 Be Released?
As of now, a release date for the fourth season is yet to be announced, though Netflix recently confirmed that the show will likely not go to air until sometime in 2022. This is largely due to delays from the pandemic. Patience is key for now, it seems.
