From what we saw via social media, Steph Claire Smith and Josh Miller’s country wedding looked picture perfect. From the incredible floral arrangements to the couple’s adorable dog Ari Gold walking down the aisle, the ceremony seemed almost too good to be true.

Talking to Steph following her wedding, we’re asking the Keep It Cleaner co-founder to reflect on how she really prepared for the big day – and what advice she’d give other bride’s to be.
“Planning a wedding is stressful so it’s really important you look after yourself in the process,” says Steph. “Eating well and keeping an exercise routine, even if it’s a walk every day to keep your body moving will help clear your mind. The most important thing to remember is to do your best to ignore the pressure society puts on you as a bride to be on any type of diet or weight loss plan. If you’re happy with the way you look-and you damn well should be-don’t let anyone else make you think otherwise.”
Admittedly, Steph lives by the KIC model of always keeping a balanced daily routine. “My diet and fitness routine didn’t change much at all really in the lead-up. I love being in routine and feeling fit and healthy, so I just kept up with my usual routine! I will admit though we had a super busy year with work, so planning a wedding on the side did get stressful at times. My routine included a lot more of the softer kinds of exercise like taking my dog Ari for a walk or doing a KIC yoga flow – when I’m feeling stressed sometimes a strenuous run or KIC workout is the worst thing for my mindset.

Steph adds it wasn’t all easy sailing though, admitting to being “surprised” by how much actually goes into planning. “Now when I go to weddings, I appreciate them on a whole other level because I’ve seen how much planning goes into them!
As for the one piece of advice Steph would share with other brides, remains very much part of her personal ethos.
“It’s really important you look after yourself in the process,” she shares. “Eating well and keeping an exercise routine, even if it’s a walk every day to keep your body moving will help clear your mind. The most important thing to remember is to do your best to ignore the pressure society puts on you as a bride to be on any type of diet or weight loss plan. If you’re happy with the way you look – and you damn well should b – don’t let anyone else make you think otherwise.”
When it comes to actually enjoying yourself on the big day, Steph shares that she lived by two main pieces of advice.
“Be a guest, not the host. ENJOY yourself.”
“Spend time together to soak it all in. There are so many people there you want to spend time with and they all want time with you, but don’t forget each other! It’s the best day/night of your lives so you want to be in the moment together as much as you can!”
