Most Australians first came to know Sophie Monk from her big start in reality show Popstars where she joined the band Bardot. But Sophie first appeared on TV in 1992 on talent show New Faces.
The adorable video below shows Bert Newton introduce Sophie, who was just 12 years old, before she performs a rendition of ‘The Ugly Duckling’.
“Sophie is 12 years of age, she’s performed in various school concerts and eisteddfods,” Bert says.
“She’s appeared on Northern Rivers Television, she’s been an extra on Skippy, and in commercials and she’s studying jazz, tap and also acrobatic dancing.”
One of the judges tells The Bachelorette star, now 37, to ‘work a little bit’ on her voice.
“You chose a very difficult key and some of your top notes have just got a bit too much breath to them. Just play with it a little bit more.”
Other talent who appeared on New Faces and went on to find fame include Keith Urban, Paul Holgan, Julia Morris and Peter Andre.
What a blast from the past!
