The Bachelor has come to a heart-wrenching end for another season (Elise, we love you) and, with no time to spare, we have to mend our broken hearts and move on because Sophie Monk’s season of The Bachelorette will be on our screens within the week.
Although teasers are popping up left, right and centre, we still know little about the contestants fighting to win the heart of the model, actress and self-proclaimed “massive bogan,” who has been previously romantically linked to a slew of famous Hollywood men.
We’ve done some digging and collated Sophie Monk’s relationship timeline below. Can the Aussie prospects ever compete?!
2005-2006 – Jason Statham
He’s now loved up with fellow British bombshell Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, welcoming their first child, Jack Oscar, in June. But back in 2005, Sophie and the action fiend dated (casually) for a few months following his break-up from Kelly Brook.
2006-2008 – Benji Madden
Madden and Monk dated back in 2006, and he even got down on one knee in early 2007! Sadly just a year later the pair went their separate ways; but Benji found love with Cameron Diaz and went on to marry her in 2015.
2008 – Ryan Seacrest
Following on from Madden, Monk moved onto US Presenter Ryan Seacrest, but, as she told Daily Mail, it was an “ish date” to Ellen DeGeneres’ birthday party and nothing more bar a few public outings. He has been in an on-off relationship with longtime girlfriend Shayna Taylor since 2013.
2010 – John Diaz
Plastic surgeon John Diaz dated Monk until she caught him in bed with another woman, she revealed to The Kyle and Jackie O Show. “I rock up in the morning with a coffee and presents and he [Diaz] had a present there-a chick.” She left the scene – but ensured she left a mark with “very strategically” spilling coffee over his car.
They were seen a few times together after, but (obviously) that didn’t last long. Not much is known about him now, so his loss we say!
2010 – Kevin Connolly
Between John Diaz and their brief re-kindled romance, Monk was spotted in Entourage star Kevin Connolly’s car in West Hollywood. They had known each other for a few years after Sophie’s appearance on the show alongside Connolly and the clan.
2010 – Russell Simmons
Who’s house? Run’s (brothers) that’s who! This “working” relationship raised eyebrows and got tongues wagging when the professional pair were eyed looking rather cushty (bum grab anyone?) together on set of her show Bigger Than Paris after his marriage to Kimora Lee Simmons broke down in 2009.
2011 – Jimmy Esebag
Billionaire businessman? Check. French monsieur? Check. From Tinseltown to twenty years her senior, Sophie Monk and Jimmy Esebag started dating in 2011, with the model revealing the two were actually engaged. “I got engaged, and I kept it quiet so no one’s heard much about him… He’s a keeper. It feels right – I think you know when you know,” she told the Kyle and Jackie O Show at the time. Sadly, Soph didn’t know that the engagement would only last a few months longer… She even hinted that she might go all “Samantha Ronson” on us in 2011, translating to batting for the other side.
2013 – Sam Worthington
What they hid as “business” (where have we heard that before, Sophie?!) naturally ended up as romance. And the relationship with the English-Aussie actor was burnt out six months later when he moved onto new girlfriend, another Australian bombshell, Lara Bingle. Sophie commented how “hurt” she was to see the two of them together, she told News.com.
2014 – Tinder
And into the online dating minefield, Sophie pulls the reigns and joins Tinder. Swipe right or swipe left? Apparently her radio show team signed her up, feeling it was a strong move to get Sophie out of her blues as she was feeling “lonely” she told Daily Mail.
2017 – The Bachelorette
After three years on the Tinder hype, the most unexpected Bachelorette is confirmed. At 37, Sophie feels her career and LA lifestyle is a thing of the past, and she’s looking for love and even believes she’ll be “pregnant within the year.”
The Bachelorette starts this Wednesday 20th on Network Ten at 7:30pm.
