The Olympics haven’t prevented engagement season from getting underway with a total of seven proposals taking place at the 2024 games in Paris.

Whether its the Parisian magic or the thrill of the event but couples are using the Olympics as an opportunity to pop the question.

American rower Justin Best had an extremely successful trip to Paris.

After winning Team USA’s first gold in the sport for the first time in 60 years, Justin got down on one knee and proposed to his girlfriend of nine years, Lainey Duncan.

The proposal happened live on the Today show, which explained that the 2,738 yellow roses were a symbol of the couple’s Snapchat streak.

“I got the gold and the girl, and she got the diamond,” Justin told Today.

Team China badminton teammates and couple Huang Yaqiong and Liu Yuchen got engaged after Huang won game.

After Huang’s win, Liu got down on one knee and popped the question.

For me, the proposal is very surprising because I have been preparing for the game,” Huang told Associated Press via an interpreter. “Today I am an Olympic champion and I got proposed [to], so that’s something I didn’t expect.”

Payton Otterdahl

U.S shot putter Payton Otterdahl took being in Paris as an opportunity to propose to his girlfriend Maddy Niles in front of the Eiffel Tower.

The athlete took to Instagram to share the happy news, where he wrote, “Meanwhile, in the City of Love… I love you forever, Maddy Nilles! @maddynilles27 ❤️.”

Argentinian handball player, Pablo Simonet, popped the question to his girlfriend, field hockey player Maria Campo.

To propose, Pablo got the handball and field hockey teams gathered for a photo before he broke away from the group to propose to surprise Campoy with a proposal.

“The woman in my life gave me a ‘yes’ 🤩 ❤️,” Pablo wrote in Spanish on Instagram. “In a dream place, where everything came from and where we fought so much to be.”

French runner might not brought home a medal in the 3000-meter-steeplechase but she got herself a fiancé.

After breaking the European record with a time of 8:58.67, Alice ran to her boyfriend, Spanish triathlete Bruno Martínez Bargiela, to pop the question.

Getting down on one knee, Alice gave her fiancé a pin that read “Love is in Paris.”

“I told myself that if I ran under nine minutes, knowing that nine is my lucky number and that we’ve been together for nine years, then I would propose,” Alice told reporters the Daily Mail reported. “I don’t like doing things like everyone else. Since he hadn’t done it yet, I told myself that maybe it was up to me to do it.”

French skiff sailing athletes, Sarah Steyaert and Charlotte Picon both finished their race with engagement rings on their hands.

According to the friends, their partners told them that they would get engaged if they came home with a gold or silver medal.

While the sailing duo only won bronze, their boyfriends were waiting on the shore with rings.

“Of course, we had to say yes,” Steyaert said at a press conference.
